Using the Surname Index of the 1851 Census prepared by the Devon Family History Society, I have looked up and made copies of the census returns for every household in Devon in 1851 containing somebody by the name of ESSERY or one of its likely derivatives.
Using the full surname index of the 1881 Census, I have made copies of the census returns for every household in the whole of England and Wales with somebody by the name of ESSERY registered. This reveals the following information about the population of ESSERYs in England and Wales in the 19th Century.
Using the Surname Indices for North Devon parishes for 1861, 1871 & 1891, I have made copies of the census returns for every household containing somebody by the name of ESSERY or its equivalents.
